Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of the MBSR(Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) on the mental health of high risk students identified by the students¡¯ emotional and behavioral screening test. The participants in the study were a total of 37(21 males and 16 females) in the experimental group and a total of 33(21 males and 12 females) in the control group who obtained consent to participate in the program from the person and their parents. The MBSR was conducted about 50 minutes once a week for a total of 8 sessions.
To verify the effectiveness of the program, a pre-and post-comparative design model of the experimental-control group was set up, and the effectiveness was evaluated using Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Depression (CES-D), Mindfulness Scale, and Emotional Control Style Scale.
As a result of the program, it was found that the stress and depression of the experimental group were significantly reduced compared to the control group, and the level of mindfulness and emotional control were also significantly improved in the sub-scales. The results of this study suggest that the MBSR program is effective in improving the mental health of high risk students identified by the student emotional and behavioral screening tests and can be used as a continuous management program for high risk teenagers in both schools and communities.
